Defects in the structure of a weld seam can seriously affect its strength and therefore constitute a severe hidden danger. For this reason the testing of the quality of weld seams is therefore one of the most important applications for ultrasonic technologies in non-destructive testing.
Mobile testing devices are used in conjunction with special angle beam probes and vertical probes. These probes reliably detect fusion defects, cracks, porosity, occlusions and other irregularities in steel, titanium and aluminium structures and in other metals.
