Defects in materials structures, for example in sheet metal, can lead to significant damages during processing and subsequent use. The testing of the quality of sheet metals is therefore one of the most important applications for ultrasonic technologies in non-destructive testing. Sheet metal can be tested for quality and defects either as a raw material or as a finished product.
In addition to individual testing, partially of fully automated complex testing procedures can also be carried out. Using special ultrasonic probes, fusion defects, cracks, porosity, occlusions and other irregularities can be detected in sheet metal structures.
